Product Description

• Vaughan Cast Iron & Alloy Barware Flat Top Beer Can Tapper/Opener, USA ~H:6x8" Vtg
Before cans had pull tabs there was...

Vaughan Flat Top Beer Can Opener Tapper, a common sight seen in any tavern or social gathering back in the 1950s or earlier and likely well used. Beer cans were first introduced in 1935.

.

Features include both Puncture and adjustable Vent Point metal Tabs. Light weight alloy handle along with 4 enduring rubber footed legs for surface protection and elevation of Tapper.

On bottom of lever is embossed Vaughan, Chicago, IL., USA.

Dated to around 1940s-'50s, it was in 1963 that pull tabs were in use by most breweries, thereby replacing older methods of "getting one's drink from a can."

A great part of the past 20th century innovations to add to one's collection. Being such a once demanded upon and viewed social tool now forever lost to the '50s modernists.

Condition: Very Good! Well taken care of and likely kept safe and protected when those 1st days of pull tabs flooded in. It still retains the original and more uncommonly seen vent tab point, along with the main puncture point, though has been given to screws that maybe were in its history later added. See photos
