Ceramic Horse Head Bookends by Holland Molds
A perfect mid-century display and equally well to blend into like decor of more modern times.
Cast, painted and glazed together they are made similar as well as being hallow. For display they would show themselves quite splendidly. If use is to hold a small book or 2 on a shelf both are heavy enough. But for large books they could hold in their interior rice or similar to give added weight and strength.
The artist, who also held these dearly in safe keeping for the last 60 years, initialed their undersides: ECJ '59. Along with the mold maker’s name which is impressed when the cast was performed.
