Levi Strauss & Co. 501xx Shrink to fit, 33 x 38 U.S.A.
Product Description
A vintage and not so common new pair of Blue Jeans from the 1980's to very early '90s.
Levi after leaving the US had changed it methods of sizing more than once, till currently jeans similarly sold are not the same in sizing as these. Saying this it’s becoming apparent that Levi is having issues keeping stock with anything close to this particular size as of 2018.
This USA size of 33 x 38 is a good fit for an active man of 180-195 lbs, standing an average height of about 6'3.5" to 6'4.5" tall. Where a 35 inch waist would be too tight and 32 inch would be a loose fit. I would think they fit an athletic person of lesser or greater of these body heights, with minor changes if needed to the leg cuff hem. The American made pants to me seem to have more leg room, especially in the thighs and crotch. Current changes made in belt loops also may not allow for thicker belts, where heavier stouter belts barely if at all work with newer Levi’s. Not good if intending to add a belt attachment and in doing so a heavy belt is required. Sure next shipment from some far off country will correct this.
Overall the Levi(s) offered fit like a today's 33-34 x 38, but way better. This since scrutinized by a labor force that perfected them for over a century of in country use.
