Carved Wood & Wicker Fish Box

A nicely crafted carved Oval Box with its Lidded Handle sculpted to a Swimming Fish and set upon 4 legs.

The Fish Box wood is similar to Ivory Coast Mahogany or E. Africa’s Monkey Pod and its upper and bottom 2 halves are lashed at their rimmed contact points with wicker. An added touch of a wicker hinge keeps both parts of the box united when opened.

Indication of a maker’s label on the bottom base is evident, though unfortunately it was removed of information.
